Katara retired from racing in Novmeber 2018, since then he's begun his retraining journey and has shown a great work attitude. I believe in the right hands he could go eventing or showjumping, he's careful on his feet with a powerful scopey jump. He would suit a confident teenager or someone who wants a fun horse to bring on.
Vices: Katara does suffer from separation anxiety, however when he stayed away from home for 3 nights he calmed down and wasn't as stressed about being away from his field buddy. Katara will weave if he becomes distressed in the stable. While hacking alone katara can become a little spooky and on edge, has had a little rear a couple of times whilst out alone.
Education: Katara has jumped 1m under saddle with plenty of scope to go higher. He has done a course on grass set at about 70cm.
Katara has begun to get his flying changes a lot cleaner, but still needs work in this area. He has moments where he will come onto the bit but isn't a master in this area, but has a trainable attitude so wouldn't take much to get him going nicely.
Extra: Katara is perfect to groom, bath, pull and tack up (haven't tried to clip him but would imagine he'd be fine).
He enjoys hacking in company and would happily go at the front or back, he's easily controlled in open fields and whilst centering etc.
He stays in over night during winter happily but does prefer to be out grazing whenever possible. Tack is available to go with him.
