15.1HH 10YO ARAB MARE
15.1hh grey 10yo arab mare. Sad sale due to change of circumstances which has meant I haven't had enough time to do this lovely natured mare justice.
Lola is a super character to have around the yard and loves attention. She is mostly a laid back character, but I wouldn't want to put a complete novice on her as she can have spooky moments when her attention wonders!
The last 12 months she has only hacked sporadically - but she is just as well behaved out hacking if she is ridden every day as when she is ridden once a month. She enjoys her hacking, but also loves going out for parties in the lorry too.
Lola has been unshod for the last 3 years, using hoof boots for long hacks, but sound and happy without shoes. She is ridden both bitted and bitless - she is never strong in either set up, being mainly trained to respond to body weight rather than hand aids.
She has previously had quite a bit of flatwork training, including starting to learn all lateral movements and showing quite a talent for them. She finds flatwork a bit tedious and would prefer to be having a jolly around the country side, but she is quite talented when she puts her mind to it! She has also done some jumping (which is apparently more fun than dressage) - but I am not a braver jumper, so she has not done that much, but is quite willing and would probably be quite good with a braver rider!
Lola has quite sensitive skin and can be quite an itchy horse. I don't believe that this is true Sweet itch, but it is managed with a cotton sheet / fly sheet in the summer months, and keeping her clean. Winter 2019/2020 she has lived out (rugged) - so is currently hairy and only in light work. She has had no hard feed but ad lib haylege all winter. The only supplements I give her in bucket feed are salt and micronised linseed.
She is an absolute diva and princess, and everyone that meets her loves her to bits. I have owned since she was 2yo, and I have been the main person to ride her. She has always been quite accepting of different people riding her, but would need a sympathetic and confident rider to get the best from her.
As you might tell, this is a sad decision, so someone with previous experience of arabs and their diva tendancies would be preferable. She would probably do well for endurance, or as a brood mare. Any new homes would be vetted - top loving homes only please! I do not have an arena at home, so do not have an enclosed space to trial, but quiet rural hacking is on the doorstep. No loans.
I am based in the far West of Cornwall, so please bare this mind before contacting for more information.
