Hi

I have a 2 yr old that i show inhand. He has a very woolly coat & the showing season starts at end of April. He is well rugged but he won;t lose all his wooliness by April. Of course I want to show him at his best.

I was thinking if I clipped him that by APril he would have a nice light shiny coat.

Is it normal to clip youngstock ? are there any potential drawbacks?

thanks for you help.

yes you can clip them but do it about 2-3 weeks before a show and it will have to be a very good clip as any stray hairs will show up easily but yes i would clip we clip our yearlings for the yearlings show in feb

thanks for the information. Great.

If I clip2-3 weeks before the show will the hair have grown back in time for the show? Or are you saying htat in the show ring the yearling would be clipped back?

Will some judges subtract points for that?

Also would you do a full clip all over?

i would clip all over as it will look better and you clip 2-3 weeks before so the clip marks are gone and he doesnt look like he is bald
um i have never had a judge put us down because of the cliping but i dont know each judge is different
