| You got me looking to see what there is around here at the mo & I almost wish I hadn't looked! Have a look at the week 1 catalogue on the day for 5 year olds & over. There's some lovely horses gonna be on sale! I just might go for a nosey myself! http://www.irishhorse.com/catalogues.html Just to add that these guys have a fantastic reputation, so all the vettings are absolutely guaranteed. Also, I know TH's mate bought one that turned out to be a weaver even though it hadn't been disclosed prior to sale. The auctioneers arranged for the horse to be collected at no cost to the purchaser. They then refunded his money & charged the transport fees to the seller

Thanks ZY.. i would love to go to an auction and have often been tempted, as i know you often get a fantastic bargain buttt unfortunately to ensure i seriously get what i need, i think i really need to try it etc so that i can ensure it hacks off a yard alone no napping and no silly business, the canter is balanced so I can sit to it etc Just for the benefit of the back story for this blog/diary I have two instructors that have both said it's time to look for something to take me further, Bob's done his job I have them both looking out for me and getting their contacts to look but there is nothing suitbale over here or in Guernsey hence why I am now looking overseas. And today I have had a lovely offer from a previous forum member Fine Philly, I asked her if she had anything that may suit me, unfortuantely she hasn't, but has suggested I fly to her base near luton and stay in her mates cheap b&b hire a car she'll take a week off and come viewing with me. She knows lots of people and has said pick some dealers or private sellers to go and she will be my eyes on the ground ride anything I like the look of and help me haggle if the need be. I thought that was a fantastically kind offer and think I may just take her up on it, with the intention of taking my cameras and laptop with me so I can do day by day reports and get all of you to help me choose one if I post pics descriptions and any video footage I get? Does sound good to you all?

| Well I have booked in to see two Monday morning already as recommended suitable for me by the dealer. CRACKER 15.1hh m/w cob schoolmaster, 7 years. Real super type, lots presence, good step. Hunted x/c and show jumps up to 90cm no problem. Well handled, good hack, goes first or last. Nice safe responsive ride, sort hard to find these days.

BLACK MAGIC 15.2 reg 5 years black gelding, dam by TOUCHDOWN. Good m/w bone, nice paces and jumps a course of fences. Hunted few occasions with West Meath as a 4 year old. Nice to handle, quiet to ride, hacks alone/company. Very good model of a horse - nice r/c horse/hunter type.

On first thoughts i prefer Black Magic purely as I already have a cobby and wouldn't mind something different but I know that Cracker will likely be the more suitable as he has a bit more experience under his belt. But still plenty more to book in and see

I'd go for the cobby one but only because the finer one is so young. They both look lovely thyough and I'd be drawn by looks to Black Magic as she's the 'type' I go for... bad news for me!

Im sure you will do this anyway JG but make sure you try out all the ones you book in to see even if one captures your heart before you have viewed them all. That way if the one you love for any reason fails a vet or the sale falls through etc then you can go for your second choice etc. Also there may be one better than the one you think you love Both of those look like nice types of horses and i really hope you find something suitable

| I think the photo makes Black Magic look finer then the description makes out. What about Donny?

Thanks KER i'll remember to do that... i must must must remember to go on rideability and no looks.. after all you can only see his neck when you on your horse I told the dealer my ability, experience, weight etc she suggested another but she said it was a proper kick along but i said no way as I have one i need the the next up from a kickalong. I asked about donny she said too fine and i asked about Bertie and she said err not for you (which believe it or not I was extremely comforted to hear her turning me away from trying a horse.. it means she listened to what i need not what she would like to sell to me )
