Well she's not exactly what you'd describe as the perfect side saddle horse, but she does it so well....trouble is finding a saddle to fit her again....they're mostly not made for the wider type.....well, the best old ones weren't....they were made for the skinny narrow, higher withered sort.

Refurbishment.........try Silke see what her dad would charge and then halve it. All Germans are rich aren't they Silke?

Don't I wish. It's because I'm so rich that I was bemoaning the cost of livery around here, right?

However, if the need arises, I can certainly ask my dad if he can (and would be willing to) restore a sidesaddle. But even if he's willing, he might not have the tools to do it anymore. (He kinda turned the workshop into a garage...)
He'd definitely be all for getting it restored though, I'd bet.
And as long as the tree is sound, and the fittings can be salvaged, restoring it shouldn't be too difficult. But I'm betting it won't be cheap.
Oh -- and if you do sell it (once restored), let me know. A lady at the stable I'm at rides sidesaddle, I bet she'd love to see it at least, since they are hard to come by.

TH - did you say you send your tack to a Master Side Saddler?
I kinda mentioned your find to a girl who rides side saddle at the yard my share is stabled, and when I said you said you'd send it off to get it fixed... she perked up.

If it's someone really good, would you mind passing me the address? She'd love to have it, as all the saddlers around here kinda raise their eyebrows when you come along with a side saddle, apparently.

I think there are only a couple side saddlers in the country now. Rob makes new side saddles as well as repairing and restoring the antique ones:
