Sorry i have been away so long and pretty much neglected this place. I have been unindated with family visiting lately then my lovely new horse decided to try and remove her leg out in the field. help i am about to explode. my new neighbour , fag smoking, beer swilling, with a big spare tyre , dressed like a lady of easy virtue to put it mildlyhas just told me she wants to buy a horse.now as far as i can make out her only interests are going to watch male strippers.she doesnt work and has never in her life been anywhere near a horse. in a calm voice i tried to tell her she should at least learn the basics of horse care and management and perhaps a few lessons also the expense involved. this went straight over her head,. the terrible thing is if she somehow got the money someone out there would sell her one and heaven knows the state it would be in.it makes me so mad, people should be vetted before being allowed to keep horses.a law should be passed, maybe then we wouldnt see the neglect and misery caused by such people.

I have been selling some stuff on ebay to clear out all the junk i have as Im always being teased for my store room looking like a tack shop :D

So I have put stuff on ebay thinking i will use the money to buy my brown showing gear

And the dumb questions I get asked is unreal.

I put a dually on starting at a pound.. does it have rust on the buckles or any fluffing? Fluffing? How would that affect it's use and its a pound start price for gods sake

Warning, this is a long one!

Since Kate lost the plot I've been putting things off blaming lack of help from her etc but I also realise that I've had very little interest as well lately and it's been so easy to blame someone else. On the flip side of that Puff was never meant to be 'mine' (neither was Cindy for that matter) I was meant to be helping Kate with her and not doing all the work. I've been waiting for Kate to come to her senses and take the responsibility for her horse both physically and financially. That's not going to happen. She's just jacked in her job. She's been aware of how ill I've been and just stood back and watched me struggle to cope knowing that my stupid hands don't work in the cold and everything takes me 3 times longer. She's also seen the weight drop off me and me lose all my strength - it's made no difference, it's still 'all about her'.

As some of you know, I've got someone starting Puff for me and I can now sit in on the sessions but I can't be bothered! I don't want to ride anymore and up until now that hasn't bothered me at all because I've always loved 'just looking after them'. Don't get me wrong, I love my girls they still get 100% of me and the best possible care I can give them, no doubt I will be totally lost without them. I've been in tears constantly - it's not an easy decision and probably is going to be extemely painful for me but I have to face the truth.

Since Kate gave up I've struggled financially - the girls haven't gone without I've made sure of that but at times it's been very hard and I've had to rob peter to pay paul - no doubt I'm not alone with that but it's not how it should be as far as I'm concerned.
I've also struggled with their lack of room, they have been in their small paddock every day for the last 4 years - it's not fair on them. Cindy has been at the same yard for 7 years. They have very little opportunity to go out and about it must be so boring for them. On the rare occasions when Kate does grace the yard with her presence, once the girls have been fed, their field done and hay etc she wants to go home - she never wants to spend time with them. With that in mind even when Puff is backed she won't want to go out for a ride, I'll be on my own again.

Because their paddock is small - I would say its probably about three quarters of an acre at the most - it is extremely overgrazed. This is why Cindy keeps getting pinworm even though I am meticulous with poo picking (twice a day, every day) and worming, because they are grazing the same small bit of land it is something that will reoccur all through the spring, summer and autumn until the frosts start again and the eggs go into hibernation. The grazing is also poor for the same reason.

Some of you will say move the girls, find another yard etc but there are very few yards around here and most will only offer turnout during the day for quite considerably more money.

Another factor is my OH - he's been very good most of the time but he gets fed up with having his weekends ruled by feeding times for the girls even so, he will come with me and poo pick. He also gets fed up with the money that gets spent on them, it's £500 per month at least. He's not at all happy with my decision as he thinks I will somehow try and blame him but I won't. I've got used to his constant moaning over the years and I'm deaf to it now - this is my decision and mine alone.

I will be lost - it will be the biggest part of my life gone! Twice a day, 7 days a week and, all bar the odd holiday, 365 days a year for the past 9 years - but I just can't do it anymore. The hardest part will be actually parting with them.

They're advertised on a couple of websites and I will be putting an ad on here when I get back from holiday. In the meantime if any of you know someone who is looking and you think my girls may be suitable please get in touch - the perfect home is far more important than price, I would happily give them away to the right person...

Ladies Day

Tomorrow myself and a group of friends are off to our local race course Ladies Day. We have been looking forward to and planning this since February so its quite exciting that its finally here. Providing the world doesnt end tonight of course :hehe:

We are having a three course meal, champagne on arrival and hopefully a day of many winners so it can fund me propping up the cocktail bar :D There are 8 of us going and we are really dressing up so it will be nice to be out of horsey gear for once.

Then Monday afternoon i have booked Bobski in to be vetted :w00t:

So fingers crossed for a successful couple of days :thumbs:

There is a guy here based somewhere in the South East & is widely known for being the best dealer in IW trailers. I rang him about 4 years ago & he came out to see me (with a trailer). I bought my IW505 with a metal floor & he kindly took away my Rice box with a cheque to cover the difference.

A couple of months ago he was 'passing' (if you saw where I lived you'd know that nobody ever just passes!) to see if I wanted to upgrade yet. I explained that I'd love to but had no money.

Anyway, since then we've surrendered the endowment policy so have a few quid in the bank (which we promised not to spend unless it was an emergency :sshhh: ).

The vent on top of my trailer got ripped off & lost while I was driving so it went in to be repaired. The repair fella looked at brakes/ramp/side panels etc. while it was there & told me there was more than 1k worth of work to be done & advised not to do it due to the age of it.

Just rang the dealer chap to say I should upgrade after all & he asked what I had. I said an IW505 quite old now - turquoise green colour & metal floor. He said, 'oh yeah, I know you - I'll be out that way later today so I'll pop in & see you!'. No address details, nothing - he just remembers everyone that he trades with, even after 4 years!!! :w00t:

If any of you here drive a 7.5t lorry, I wonder if you can give me any help or advice?

I'm 5ft 5" and am finding it very difficult to dip the clutch enough to change gear smoothly on our lorry. However I place the seat it's not quite right unless I have it so close I can hardly turn the steering wheel (as it's right in my lap!) and even then it's tricky! I don't have particularly short legs (inside leg 30") but the seat just seems too high to get the right angle on the clutch and I can adjust everything on the seat but height! It's also made worse if I try to change gear on bumpy terrain as the chair bounces (as it's supposed to)!!!!! :blink: OH can't work out if it's me or my height that's causing the problem! I suspect it's a matter of both but I'm not the only shorter lorry driver in the country so there must be tactics!

Kent County Council has agreed to recommend approval for a huge quarrying company to excavate ragstone in an area known as Oaken Wood - an area of ancient woodland with Tree Preservation Orders in place. Yep it's where we ride! The lovely 70 or so acres of woodland paths and tracks that we have been using since we first hacked out at the new yard :( No idea how soon this will impact us and in what way but I don;t see it being possible to use even diverted paths if they are passing close by to rock crushing equipment, earth movers and explosions :( It's so very sad and (in my opinion) a result of money meaning more than the environment despite the grand claims the bl**dy council makes. Gutted and disgusted.

Any info?

After being dropped down numerous stairs and sanddunes my phone is looking a little worse for wear :(.

It's camera and front screen has died, plus the covering of the screen has broken and gone all jaggy and is ****** lethal. I'm constantly cutting my hands on it :(.

I'm putting together a production to raise hunt funds and want to burn the footage on dvd's and we're going to auction it off at our hog roast in a couple of weeks. I'm including a brief film of each member that will be at the function, we're showing it on a big screen tv all night and we want everyone to bid so we have to make people look very good (not always easy), i'm including pics as well as clips BUT what i'm struggling with is some of the footage is of a few people and what I want to know is, is there any way I can put a spotlight on a certainperson in the video footage? A bit like the Police show cctv footage with a person highlighted. If anyone can help, i'd really appreciate it :)

I've just had my pc fixed, it had overheated and needed a new everything important and a new case. The case doesn't have a plug socket for my firewire cable that imports video from my video camera :crying:

I can't be bothered taking all the wires out and going back to the shop and leave it for another couple of days, so can I get one off Ebay and fit it myself?
