It has taken forever and i lost count of how many attempts to finally get this video sorted. Ask Madz being she had to listen to me rant and rave when i couldnt get it to do a simple task :D thanks Madz, we got there in the end :thumbs:

A recent picture of the little dude, although not so little now. He is such a lovely boy and really is fabulous to be around. He has the look at me attitude and just loves himself :)

I hope he cheers anyone up who may be feeling a bit low lately, he certainly has done the trick for me

I've not been on here for a while, so have some pictures!

I've had Indie for over a year now and she's doing so well. She's shot up and is much taller now and she's finding schooling easier and easier. I'm still not pushing her too much because she's still only 5 and who knows when she'll give up growing so I prefer to just take things steady - she has her whole life ahead of her :)

so all in all, nothing much to report. she's at the age where her mind is like a sponge so I'm taking advantage of that with lots of school work. I try to hack out when I can but that's easier said than done when I have floodlights in the arena and none out hacking lol she's still her usual well behaved self so that's about it really!

Hi guys, I'm quite new here, but I thought I would post this, I'm pretty chuffed with it, the photo didn't come out fantastically, but I jsut wanted to see what people thought of it (oh since I have added in a better curve just behind her cheek & rubbed out the smudged lines :) )

sorry I havent been on here for ages, but I thought I'd make a thread illustrating my 2011 with horses

I started the year sending this one off

then I moved yards and met this one for the first time, I'll never forget how she climbed off the back of a lorry in the pitch black and walked all the way to my new yard with me - I should have seen it then, but she turned out to be my horse of a lifetime

we started very slowly, my confidence wasn't in a good place

and I soon found out how impossible her canter was. She's very uphill and was very unbalanced at the start, I remember how she just couldn't canter in a small space, she used to just hop over the ground pole, flying change and motorbike it - it wasn't pretty!

but we worked on it and slowly she started finding it a lot easier and less reasons to panic but I still found it hard to sit to her canter - so mostly didn't for several months :Wow:

as summer came we started doing a lot of work and she matured a lot physically

experimented with things we decided to never use again!

and then, decided to try and take an eye out, luckily failing but having had a good shot at it. cue many many vet visits and prescriptions of antibiotics that we both hated having to administer

she was very lucky and it didn't touch the surface of her eye, so after a bout of box rest

she came back into work

shortly after this I decided to extend her break to let her mature mentally and physically. She had 2 months of field time and then came back with a locking stifle - this has improved hugely with gentle work and we clipped her out - for her first body clip, she had a hunter and was perfectly behaved

Hello everyone, nice to be here :)
I am a professional photographer and at the same time great horse enthusiast. I used to ride when I was a student (about 2 years ago) and can't wait till I sit on a horseback again! I am also interested in natural horsemanship and have some knowledge in the subject which I'd love to refresh as soon as I manage to find time for that :)

Well Thursday 22nd marks a year of being with Azer already :)

Its all starting to click we have lots of first times and many more to come. OUr partnership is harmonising and I'm starting to get to grips with actually getting him to work nicely for me at times.

He seems to be going through another growing spurt. His girth tightnening more than it has done for a while and he's again looking quite obviously bum high I dont want him much bigger though :hehe:

So I've increased his feed as the temps are dropping too and i dont want him too fine during winter.

Growing Up

Its been a long time since i put some pics up of the little man, although not so little now at 4 and a half months. He is changing an awful lot. I have advertised him for sale to see what happens as with Kitty being back in foal for next year i just dont know how i will manage with 5. I have put him at quite a high price though 1 because if i am going to sell him i want to make it worth my while and 2 he is a good quality foal and the stallions stock always reach very good prices. If he does sell i will be sad to see him go but if he stays then i will just work out a way to juggle them all next year :)

We did a little clear round at the local show yesterday its the first show weve done since hes been back after all the back issues last summer. Im so proud of my little cowpony he really looked after me I was so scared Shows really wind me up I hate people watching me but yesterday we both really enjoyed ourselves so anyways heres the pics :D

it's not often I get to freeschool Indie cos as TH can testify, my charming little pony thinks nothing of jumping the gate and my arena is so big I can't be in two places at once - so I get someone to stand by the gate which is enough of an incentive for her to not bother with it

back in her stable, I think she's looking quite good! bearing in mind we don't have amazing grass right now and she's just come off box rest which, including a break before that, equalled 3 weeks off. She has one feed a day, which is clearly suiting her nicely!

The weekend

As I'm on my own Mon-Fri now, lack of grass, unhelpful farmer etc etc, the lady who owns the farm where I keep Marny made me an offer I couldn't refuse - so I now rent another field and at the weekend Prince and Gallant moved up there too :D

Given that Gallant hasn't been on a trailer since he was 4 months old, he walked on like it was daily occurrence for him, so from trailer arriving to boys in the new field only took 30 mins!!!

So all my boys now have lots of grass, I'm saving money and happy faces all round :thumbs:

Azer and I finally braved the show ring together at the weekend. I was nervous as not had to canter in groups at a show before. Id onyl ever showed bob in one ridden class at it was a very casual charity show.

But this ones was much more formal though fun.

We did best turned out on saturday we came last out of seven (not sure why as there was nothing un correct/dirty about us.. and the winner didnt even have gloves on :w00t: but it was litearlly one to get him in the ring and standing in the line up and cause the show was asking for as many entries as possible.

We hacked home as about 4 hours untill our next class did my chores and hacked back to do inhand open horse. Azer was doing well till the inidivual show and decided despite practising numourous times at home that he was not going to trot up for the judge (shame as I heard the judge mutter well I wont bother to place that one then) there was 17 in the class so for her to even have thought about placing him was an honour :D

Sunday we did in hand riding horse and we had practiced trotting up on the way home (id dropped my show cane it was hot so id got off anyway so thought id use it to practice) and again he would NOT trot up think we got about three strides so again he came last of about 7 in inhand riding horse.

Then it was ridden show time, it only had four of us in but people must have seen this and decided to flock it turned out to be nine of us with some serious stiff competition in it very well established riders and or horses.

We did okay i was nervous and they decided to make us canter about 4 laps on one rein and about 6 on the other. I lost my canter a few times and think I annoyed others though i had specifically gone at the back in case this happened, but people were flying about every where and i got cut up quite a few times so not always my fault.

I then had a groom of one of the riders shouting at me i was causing a back log and to keep going ( i was actually waiting as people were extending up the longside and i was behind two others that were at the top corner beforehand to promptly told her to shut up and got on with my canter in front of the judge)

We got pulled in 8th the judge then rode them all and wow what a ride Az gave the judge she rode him beautifully best ive ever seen him go she said hed given her a lovely ride (a heard her havign to really get coax on some of the others to get a move on). She also said i needed to get hold of him more as he rides a lot nice then he looks.

I think this trot up we got about 5 strides lol the mule :D

She then pulled us in 5th place which I was delighted with. Just wish I could say any of it was to my credit. But it was my first go so cant be too hard on myself.

m out again friday to do lightweight show hunter and large riding horse again so hoping ill be more confident this time.

Show Time

On Saturday i took Kitty and Gio to our local agricultural show. Its a huge event that we have up here every year with horses, cattle, goats, sheep, alpacas, machinery, dogs. You name it we have it.

They behaved impecibly if you forget the bit of the pair of them being so strong but they remained under control :hehe: Kitty was entered in the small hunter broodmare class (15.2 and under), she was initially pulled in 2nd but then dropped to 3rd. The judge said that she only moved her down as she thought she didnt have enough bone for a hunter and was more a riding horse type and had it been that class she would have won as she just loved her. So pleased with my girl as she is looking fab at the moment :heart:

Then Gio's class was all the foals from the small hunter and large hunter broodmares. There were 9 foals in this and he was the youngest and smallest of the lot. He came 6th and was the highest placed of the foals from the small broodmares. Was so amazed at the little man.

All in all a great day other than him towing me off across the car park at the end, funny thinking back now the cheeky monster.

I'd been meaning to do this for ages, only just got round to it today! I clipped for the first time, I was briiiiicking it cos I'm famous for having shockingly.........shockingly awful hand-eye co ordination and I thought if I f*** this up, she's gonna look RIDICULOUS for ages, but, I actually did a good job! It was so much fun and Indie was brilliant, she just stood there for me. I was also scared of not looking after the clippers well enough - but it's actually so easy lol

so different, when I had Joey I had to have a professional in and even then he was left with one hairy leg cos he exploded so much when people tried to clip his legs! TH can vouch for the AWFUL scissor job legs he had in Jan lol

so, here's the pics. obviously not a body clip but I'm still so proud of these legs! how well does it suit her too?!!! shes not built like a cob in any other respect, so without her feather, she looks much better! her legs look so thin now they look like they'll break lol!

The one that shocked everyone on my fb cos I hadn't mentioned a word about her or anything, I took this about half an hour after she got off the back of a lorry that she'd been on since leaving TH over 300 miles away (about 7-8 hrs) in the pitch black, alongside a busy road, in the rain - on 2nd Jan. She walked all the way up a lane with just a torch for light, with me, and has never put a foot wrong since. This photo means everything to me

Right thought I'd drop you guys a little update on Gucci and let you guys see how we are getting on.
We have comfortably jumped 1m and might get a video for you guys if I can get it from a friend but I have some pics of a couple smaller jumps and also of us in the school. Some arent the best but never mind.

I have finally got round to getting some pics of the new boy. They are not the best but will hopefully get some better ones soon. He needs a bit more topline on him but that will come gradually with work and please excuse the cuts and scabs but his previous field mate liked to pick on him. His vetting is being done on friday so fingers crossed all goes well as i really do like him :)

Here's my beautiful boys today. :)

Wanted to tie Apache up and make him stand still long enough to be plaited up - it killed my arms, they looked dreadful and he became a fidget but we managed!!!

So... we put some brushing boots on him (never had them on before) and we practised our trotting up in hand.

^^ The ground was level..........

And then the beautiful Bisto. :)

Bisto definitely has sweet itch and as you can see is very itchy... :(

she's still got those massive long stilts for legs but is growing into herself a lot now. I can see what build she is properly and can roughly guess what she'll look like when she's all done

AIYR came to meet Indie!

yesterday AIYR (Emma) came down to cornwall to meet me and Indie :)

My friend Charlotte and her mare Dream wanted to jump as well but it was really sunny and hot so we couldn't do too much, but I still ended up jumping the biggest I have with Indie to date! The horses were well behaved as always and it was a really nice day. It's only taken me several lessons and about 5 months but I'm finally finding Indie's canter much easier to sit too, she gets very strong when a jumps in front of her and tends to go flat out, mess her strides up and flatten over the jump but now I'm actually able to sit back and influence how she approaches a fence now, that's boosting my confidence a lot

she's also actually (mostly!) [b]jumping[/b] small fences now, prior to this she was more likely to use it as a trotting pole or bound over in one canter stride if the jump was below 2ft!

she was being a bit lazy on the way to the bigger jumps (no doubt the heat was making her feel a bit sluggish but she always slows down when another horse is working in the arena?) so I picked up a stick to help wake her up. I [i]never[/i] have to use it cos she hates them and it wouldn't be fair in the temps we had to punish her for feeling tired, but I need her to be off the leg going into 2ft 3 - 6 jumps, and if she's gonna compete when she's older she needs to be able to switch on and work when she's feeling a bit hot, so carrying it and occasionally showing her it is enough
